Kazakhstan’s temperature is rising faster than the global average

Kazakhstan is warming faster than the global average, according to specialists at Kazhydromet. Forecasters say the most rapid warming is occurring during the spring.

Based on long-term observations, Kazakhstan has experienced a sustained rise in temperatures. Since 1976, the country’s average annual air temperature has increased by about 0.4 degrees Celsius per decade.

The fastest warming has been recorded in spring, when temperatures have risen by roughly 0.7 degrees Celsius per decade. In some regions, the rate reaches as much as 0.9 degrees Celsius.

According to Kazhydromet, 2025 was the warmest year on record in Kazakhstan. The country’s average annual air temperature was approximately 2.9 degrees Celsius above the climate norm.

«Nine of the 10 warmest years on record in Kazakhstan have occurred in the 21st century,» the forecasters said.
