The company’s football simulator once again correctly predicted the FIFA World Cup winner, making it five consecutive successful predictions. Ahead of the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, EA ran a simulation of the tournament and named Spain the main contender for the title. The prediction came true as Spain reached the final and won its second World Cup title.
The most surprising part is the consistency. EA has been accurately predicting World Cup winners for 16 years: the simulator chose Spain in 2010, Germany in 2014, France in 2018, Argentina in 2022 and now Spain once again.

Of course, the developers do not have a real crystal ball. The simulations rely on player ratings and the characteristics of footballers and teams. That makes the streak all the more remarkable: across five consecutive World Cups, EA’s model has yet to get the tournament winner wrong.
After ending its partnership with FIFA, the company continued releasing football simulators under the EA SPORTS FC brand.
