Food and Travel magazine team explores Almaty’s gastronomy

The editorial team of renowned gastronomic travel magazine Food and Travel has arrived in Almaty to explore the local food scene. Kursiv LifeStyle takes a look at the locations and venues on the team’s itinerary.

The team has already visited several restaurants, markets and local concept-driven venues. They are sampling Kazakh cuisine and getting acquainted with modern interpretations of traditional dishes.

The editorial team will also visit Almaty’s cultural and tourist attractions to explore how the city’s cuisine is connected to its history and modern urban life.

Food and Travel has been published since 1997 and focuses on travel and gastronomy. It currently publishes editions in the U.K., Germany, Italy, Mexico, Turkey and Greece.

Almaty has attracted international attention for its food scene this year. U.S.-based food and dining website Eater included the city in its Where to Eat 2026 list, while four Almaty venues were featured in The World’s 50 Best Discovery. The visit by the Food and Travel editorial team is another sign of growing international interest in the city’s food scene.
