Although the Toyota Land Cruiser 70’s exterior isn’t sleek, it remains a highly desirable vehicle for many. The model is still in production and officially sold in markets where durability and ease of repair are paramount.

In its home market, the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 is officially sold in the five-door AX version. Prices start at 4.8 million yen ($30,180). The model is still listed on the company’s website as part of Toyota’s current lineup.

Interestingly, the company isn’t simply keeping the old SUV in production for select special orders; it’s also offering it to regular customers in its domestic market.

Australia

Australia is one of the Land Cruiser 70’s main markets. Here, the model is offered in several body styles, including Wagon, Troop Carrier, and single- and double-cab versions. However, Toyota Australia is currently warning of high demand and long lead times, while orders for one version have been temporarily suspended.

The last officially published starting price for the 70 Series was AUD 75,600 ($54,286). However, before making a purchase, the company recommends checking the current price with a local dealer.

UAE

The Land Cruiser 70 is also officially available in the UAE. Toyota UAE currently offers a 4.0-liter version with a starting price of 177,900 dirhams, or approximately $48,440.

Many private importers resell popular vehicles from the UAE in Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries, including the Land Cruiser 70.

South Africa

Another important market for the Toyota Land Cruiser 70 is South Africa. The vehicle is offered there in Single Cab, Double Cab and Station Wagon body styles. Prices start at 840,900 rand ($52,800), with the most expensive Station Wagon version costing around 1.2 million rand.

In 2026, Toyota expanded the availability of its 2.8-liter diesel engine offering and discontinued the 4.5-liter V8 in its pickup models.

Why the old Land Cruiser is still needed

Toyota has retained the model’s body-on-frame construction and its overall utilitarian approach. Moreover, the company continues to position the Land Cruiser 70 as a durable SUV designed for harsh conditions.
