Mitsubishi unveils all-new Pajero

On Sept. 2, Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors unveiled a new generation of its iconic Pajero SUV, whose production ended globally in 2021 after sales in Japan were discontinued in 2019, the company said in a release.

The new frame-based cross-country SUV is manufactured at the company’s facility in Thailand and will debut there before being introduced in Japan and Australia during Japan’s fiscal 2026, which runs from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027. From Japan’s fiscal 2027, beginning April 1, 2027, the company plans to launch the model in approximately 100 countries worldwide, including markets in ASEAN, Latin America and the Middle East.

The price has yet to be revealed. The company describes the new Pajero as its flagship model and said it would introduce the vehicle to markets around the world in phases.

According to the press release, more than 3.29 million Pajero vehicles have been produced across four generations since the model was introduced in 1982.
