Xiaomi has unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Fold, the company’s new foldable smartphone that sits somewhere between compact flip phones and larger book-style foldables. The model features Xiaomi’s new proprietary XRING O3 processor. Kursiv LifeStyle explains what else sets the new device apart.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold features two OLED displays. When folded, it has a compact 5.38-inch screen. When unfolded, the display expands to 7.58 inches. Both screens support refresh rates of up to 120 Hz, which should make animations and scrolling appear smoother. Peak brightness reaches 4,000 nits, helping keep the displays visible even in bright sunlight.

Both screens have an aspect ratio of approximately 2:1. This allows the keyboard on the unfolded smartphone to be wider than on conventional devices with a 6.9-inch display.

When unfolded, the smartphone is about half a centimeter thick, while when folded, it measures just over one centimeter. It weighs 219 grams, roughly the same as a standard chocolate bar. The device features a flat frame and an oval camera module. It will be available in black, white, red and warm gold.

The new XRING O3 chip delivers a significant performance boost. According to the company, the processor is 60% more powerful than the previous generation. Graphics performance, which is particularly important for gaming and image processing, has also improved by 85%. At the same time, the chip consumes 25% less power when idle or under light workloads, which should help extend battery life.

The main camera features a 200 MP sensor. The smartphone also has a 50 MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom for capturing distant subjects and a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera for wider shots.

The 6,000 mAh battery is designed to provide long battery life. It supports 67W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The smartphone runs HyperOS 4 based on Android 17 and also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity.

Xiaomi will also release a Ceramic Special Edition featuring a ceramic back panel instead of the standard finish. Production will be limited to just 1,500 units. This version will come with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold is currently available only in China. Xiaomi has yet to announce an official launch in Kazakhstan or other markets outside China.
