A geomagnetic storm is affecting Earth, while people on social media say they are feeling under the weather. Kursiv LifeStyle explains what scientists know about the possible effects of geomagnetic activity on human health.

Social media users have been sharing accounts of how they feel during the storm. Some report insomnia, while others complain of severe fatigue.

According to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Prediction Center, elevated solar wind speeds associated with a coronal hole have contributed to geomagnetic activity reaching G2 levels.

Geomagnetic activity is expected to weaken to G1 levels on Sept. 9 or Sept. 10, with the storm expected to subside by Sept. 11.

During this period, doctors advise people to take care of themselves, stay hydrated, reduce stress and avoid strenuous activity. It is also important to maintain a regular sleep and rest schedule. If serious symptoms such as severe shortness of breath or chest pain occur, seek medical attention immediately.
