After a long flight, most people are eager to get home. But one Malaysian man has turned picking up his wife at the airport into a small celebration. For nearly six years, he has greeted her in a different funny costume each time — from a dinosaur and a frog to beloved cartoon and anime characters.

A woman named Amira shared photos of the unusual airport reunions on Threads. In the pictures, her husband greets her dressed as Rilakkuma, the popular Japanese character; No-Face from «Spirited Away»; a Tyrannosaurus rex; and even a giant frog.

A tradition born from love

According to Amira, the tradition has been going on for nearly six years. She met her husband shortly before their wedding. He proposed just three months after they met, and they married three months later.

In the early years of their marriage, her husband would simply meet her with a bouquet of flowers after her work trips. Eventually, he decided to make the reunions more memorable and began showing up in increasingly elaborate costumes.

«I felt joy, surprise, embarrassment and even a touch of emotion all at once,» Amira said, recalling the first time she saw her husband dressed as a bear.

She said she never asked him to bring flowers or wear costumes. He came up with the tradition himself, hoping that after tiring business trips, she would return home with a smile rather than simply feeling exhausted.

A viral gesture

The story quickly went viral on social media, with users describing his airport appearances as a sweet expression of love and care. Many said the story inspired them to create their own family traditions — small rituals designed to bring joy to their loved ones even after years of marriage.
