Air Astana may deploy onboard internet in October

Air Astana could offer satellite internet from Viasat and OneWeb on its aircraft. Meanwhile, the price of service has yet to be announced.
Damir Seissembekov, chairman of the Telecommunications Committee of the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan, told journalists about the launch of internet access on board Kazakhstan’s airlines. He said the necessary legislative work had already been completed, and amendments were drafted and adopted by presidential decree in June.
«We are actively working on this issue jointly with Air Astana. We expect the first aircraft with internet access to enter service in October. There are two tracks: one with Viasat and another with OneWeb,» Seissembekov said.
He added that the carrier will determine the price of the internet service. According to Seissembekov, Air Astana is considering different options, including those tied to its loyalty program.
