Astana will host the 2028 UEFA Super Cup. The UEFA Executive Committee has chosen Astana Arena as the venue.

The committee made the decision today, Sept. 15, during its meeting in Thessaloniki. Kazakhstan will host the UEFA Super Cup for the first time. The 2027 match is set to take place at Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, with Astana hosting the following year.

The Super Cup traditionally opens the new season of European club competitions. In a single match, the previous season’s Champions League winner faces the Europa League winner. Since 2013, the venue has changed every year.

The exact date of the 2028 UEFA Super Cup has yet to be announced.

The executive committee also decided the hosts of other European finals. The 2028 UEFA Champions League final will take place in Munich, while the 2029 final will take place at Camp Nou in Barcelona. The UEFA Europa League finals will be held in Bucharest and Belgrade, respectively.

Astana Arena opened in 2009 and has a capacity of around 30,000 spectators. The stadium is equipped with a retractable roof and is the home ground of FC Astana. It also hosts matches involving Kazakhstan’s national team. The venue has also hosted Champions League and Europa League matches.

The latest UEFA Super Cup took place in Salzburg in August 2026. Paris Saint-Germain defeated Aston Villa 2-1 to win the title for a second consecutive year.
