Kazakhstan-based Shin-Line, Central Asia’s largest ice cream producer, has arranged for ice cream production using South Korean technology to be launched. In addition, the company plans to establish a food industry cluster modeled on South Korea’s Jeonbuk State.
Shin-Line reported on the agreements reached during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit to South Korea. In particular, the company signed a trilateral memorandum together with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Agriculture and Sungwon Machinery Co., a manufacturer of equipment for ice cream and dairy production.
Shin-Line and Sungwon Machinery Co. plan to launch a joint project to produce South Korean-style ice cream using advanced technologies. A new entity, Shin-Line Engineering, is planned to be established to implement and adapt these technologies.
The South Korean side will ensure the implementation of engineering solutions to modernize manufacturing and develop new high-value-added products.
«Our goal is to bring Korean expertise to Kazakhstan, build our own engineering capabilities and develop new products that meet high international standards. We have chosen a strong technology partner, and we expect this cooperation to deliver long-term results,» Shin-Line Group President Andrey Shin said.
The agreement is valid for three years. The Ministry of Agriculture will provide the project with government support.
In addition, Shin-Line Group has reached an agreement with the Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Agency to establish a modern food cluster in Kazakhstan based on the experience of South Korea’s Jeonbuk State, the country’s leading agricultural hub and home to the state-run Foodpolis cluster.
The company noted that the agreement is strictly strategic and advisory in nature, without involving direct financial investment or property-related obligations. It is expected to help Shin-Line adopt best practices in developing the food industry.
Previously, Shin-Line signed an agreement with Japan’s Shigemitsu Industry to develop the Japanese ramen restaurant chain Ajisen Ramen in Kazakhstan.
