Kazakhstan-based Shin-Line, Central Asia’s largest ice cream producer, plans to launch a joint venture with South Korean logistics giant Lotte Global Logistics worth 1 billion tenge (about $2.2 million), expected to deliver goods to online and chain stores.
Shin-Line and Lotte Global Logistics signed a memorandum of understanding on Sept. 15 in Seoul. The joint venture will be called Shin-Line Lotte Global Logistics. Lotte Global Logistics will own a 51% stake and Shin-Line will own 49%. The initial investment is valued at around 1 billion tenge.
The company will operate as a 3PL provider, offering businesses a full range of logistics services, including storage, transportation, labeling, and delivery. The company will serve chain, online and discount stores. The operator will provide services both for the Shin-Line group of companies and third-party customers.
Shin-Line will provide the company with freight flows, distribution networks, storage facilities and vehicles. In turn, Lotte Global Logistics will bring international logistics expertise and advanced IT management systems.
The companies plan to complete the establishment of the joint venture in 2026. In 2027, the parties expect to launch its operations, with plans to expand in the 3PL market between 2028 and 2031. The companies plan to start with Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Karaganda and other regions.
A working group of 40 specialists, 20 from each party, was established to prepare the project.
The parties plan to discuss the interim results of their work in September. The final report, including financial indicators and the plan for establishing the joint venture, is expected in October 2026.
Lotte Global Logistics is an international logistics operator and part of South Korea’s large Lotte Group. The company provides a full range of supply chain management services.
Previously, Shin-Line also reached an understanding to produce ice cream using Korean technology in Kazakhstan. In addition, the company plans to build a multidisciplinary hospital in Almaty with Hyundae Hospital under South Korean standards.
