A Minnesota woman was arrested on suspicion of stealing two sets of power-tool batteries worth about $580. But it was her mugshot, rather than the alleged theft, that quickly went viral on social media because of her resemblance to Jennifer Lopez.

The woman, identified as 35-year-old Cyrena Anne Quast, was arrested Aug. 30 in Monticello, Minnesota. According to police, she allegedly walked out of a store with two sets of batteries worth a total of about $580. A store employee recognized Quast from an alleged theft at the same location two days earlier and provided police with a description of her and information about her vehicle.
Quast was detained the same day and charged with felony theft. According to case records cited in media reports, she admitted to police that she had stolen the batteries.
Social media sees a J.Lo look-alike
Quast’s mugshot quickly attracted attention online. In the photo, she is wearing a white T-shirt and large hoop earrings, with her hair pulled back into a high ponytail. Social-media users began comparing her appearance with that of Lopez, with one post featuring the mugshot reportedly receiving more than 3 million views on X.

The comparisons soon turned into jokes and memes. Some users dubbed Quast «Jenny from O-Block,» a play on Lopez’s 2002 hit «Jenny From the Block.» Others joked about a possible family connection between the two women.
One user tagged Lopez and jokingly suggested that she take a DNA test, speculating that Quast could be her secret daughter. The joke appeared to play on the age difference between the two: Lopez is 57, while Quast is 35.
No connection to Lopez
There is no reported connection between Quast and Lopez. Lopez has not publicly commented on the resemblance or the social-media jokes.
