Kazakhstan has joined the list of countries with hotels awarded the Michelin Key for the first time. Kursiv LifeStyle highlights the properties that received Keys from the Michelin Guide’s experts.
Five Kazakhstani hotels made the Michelin’s list. Each received One Michelin Key, the first tier in Michelin’s three-level rating system. Three of the hotels are located in Astana, one in Almaty, and another at the Shymbulak ski resort near Almaty.
The Veil Hotel
The Veil Hotel, on the right bank of the Ishim River in Astana, is known for its distinctive architecture. The property features restaurants, a wine boutique and a spa.
The St. Regis Astana
Another hotel on the list is The St. Regis Astana, also located by the Ishim River near Central Park in Kazakhstan’s capital.
The Ritz-Carlton, Astana
The Ritz-Carlton, Astana is located within the Talan Towers complex. The hotel offers 157 rooms and suites, along with a spa, swimming pool, restaurant and bar.
The Ritz-Carlton, Almaty
The Ritz-Carlton in Almaty is located in Esentai Tower. The Michelin assessment specifically highlights its views of the city and the Trans-Ili Alatau.
Tenir Eco Hotel Shymbulak
The fifth Kazakhstani hotel on the list is Tenir Eco Hotel Shymbulak. Situated at an altitude of approximately 3,200 meters, it consists of 10 individual guest units.
Michelin first unveiled its global hotel list in 2025, featuring more than 2,000 properties worldwide. In Central Asia, Kazakhstan leads in the number of properties awarded Michelin Keys. The guide also includes the InterContinental Tashkent in Uzbekistan.
