Saudi Arabia’s Ceer unveils futuristic electric cars
The Saudi brand Ceer has unveiled two versions of its first electric vehicle, the Exobot: a sedan and a crossover. They look as if they’ve just stepped out of a futuristic video game, yet these are real cars slated to enter production next year.
A Saudi EV with 1,111 hp
The Exobot models feature a massive 2.4-meter-long windshield that flows seamlessly into the hood. Ceer claims it is the largest windshield on any production car.
The sedan measures 5.26 meters long, 2.1 meters wide and 1.43 meters high. The SUV is slightly shorter, at 5.02 meters, but noticeably taller. Both vehicles feature upward-opening doors called «Shahin Wing Doors.» The manufacturer says it chose the name in honor of the Saudi falcon.
The cars’ exteriors are anything but conventional and may leave a mixed impression. It looks as if the designer left the blueprints on his desk, only for his child to show up and decide to improve the design with a few ideas of his own. Somehow, the final result wasn’t thrown in the trash. Instead, it made its way into production.
Technically, however, the Exobot is no joke. The top-tier version will feature three electric motors delivering a combined output of 1,111 hp and 1,500 Nm of torque. The sedan and crossover will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.1 and 2.4 seconds, respectively.
At launch, however, the cars will be available in a First Edition trim with 850 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.6 and 2.9 seconds, respectively.
Interior and equipment
Both versions will be equipped with a 112-kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 670 km for the sedan and 560 km for the SUV under the NEDC cycle. Thanks to an 800-volt architecture, charging from 10% to 80% takes less than 30 minutes.
The interior also follows a sci-fi aesthetic, featuring a 48-inch screen spanning the entire upper dashboard, a separate 10.4-inch multimedia touchscreen and an 8-inch display for rear passengers. The steering wheel features a yoke design, while AI powers the voice assistant.
Ceer developed the Exobot in collaboration with several prominent technology partners. Foxconn, for example, handled the electrical architecture; BMW provided engineering technology; and Rimac Technology and Hyundai Transys supplied the electric drive systems. Production will take place in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia.
Pricing has not yet been disclosed. Ceer plans to introduce five additional models between 2028 and 2030. Notably, the company has moved away from its plan to produce exclusively electric vehicles; the lineup will eventually include hybrids and internal combustion engine (ICE) models.
The Exobot may look a bit strange, but Chinese cars were once the subject of ridicule, too, and now they compete head-to-head with global brands. So, in a few years, this kind of design may no longer seem like something out of the future.
