Mikhail Shaidorov climbs to world No. 2 in ISU standings

Kazakhstani figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov rose to second place in the updated ISU World Standings for men.

He has 4,193 points. Second place is Shaidorov’s career-high standing after he climbed from third.

Ilia Malinin of the U.S. retained the top position with 4,590 points. Japan’s Yuma Kagiyama dropped to third with 4,123 points.

Shaidorov moved into second place after winning bronze at the Nepela Memorial, an ISU Challenger Series event in Bratislava.

According to media reports, Shaidorov’s second-place position in the ISU world standings marked both a personal record for the athlete and the best result in the history of men’s singles skating in Kazakhstan. The previous record was held by Denis Ten, who reached third place.

In addition, Shaidorov set a new personal best in the short program at the event, scoring 95.98 points. His previous best, 92.94 points, was set at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy.

The Olympic champion scored 272.75 points overall to claim the bronze medal. Russia’s Evgeni Semenenko finished first, followed by Italy’s Daniel Grassl.
