Renowned British designer John Galliano has presented his first collection for Zara. Vogue has published a preview of the new campaign. Kursiv LifeStyle looks at how the fashion designer — known for his work with Parisian fashion houses including Givenchy and Christian Dior — has reimagined mass-market garments.

The collection is titled «Re{form} Zara Authored by the Couturier John Galliano.» Galliano used existing Zara pieces as a starting point, altering their cuts, proportions and details.

For example, he reworked a wool coat by changing the placement of the pockets, the shape of the lapels and the length of the hem. He transformed a lace-trimmed slip dress by adding a voluminous detail around the neckline. He also enlarged a cotton shirt to XXXL-XXXXL proportions, turning it into a jacket with a faux-leather print.

According to Galliano, he used a process of resampling and digital mixing, taking existing garments apart and reconstructing them. The collection also includes sheer tulle pieces, as well as jackets and accessories referencing historical costumes.

As Vogue reports, the designer drew inspiration from the French Revolution era, particularly the silhouettes of les Incroyables and les Merveilleuses. Galliano previously explored these motifs in his 1984 collection at Central Saint Martins.

Prices for the collection start at $29.90. By comparison, one of Galliano’s haute couture creations for Christian Dior sold for €663,000 in January 2026.

The collaboration between Galliano and Zara is set to run for two years and will include four collections. For Galliano, the project marks his first major undertaking since he left Maison Margiela in 2024.

The debut collection should already be arriving at Zara stores worldwide.
