Uzbekistan has appointed three new deputy ministers of education and science. One of them, Oybek Yuldashev, is also an electronic music enthusiast. Kursiv LifeStyle takes a closer look at the DJ in the ministry.

Before taking office, Yuldashev served as director of PwC Uzbekistan’s public sector, infrastructure and ESG consulting practice. In the music scene, however, he is known by the nickname Minor Unit.

Along with his work in public administration, Yuldashev is active in electronic music. In his PromoDJ bio, he says he’s been collecting it since 1997 and regularly shares new tracks. In his sets, he uses progressive house, organic house and melodic sounds.

«I’m not a fan of musical snobbery and I don’t believe great music should be hidden away in private folders. That’s why I regularly share the music that genuinely moves me… Every mix is a story I want to tell and a journey I want to share,» Minor Unit’s PromoDJ bio said.

Yuldashev performed as Minor Unit at the Stihia festival in 2024, playing a set on the Lighthouse stage. Kursiv LifeStyle found a recording of his performance.

The current deputy minister also has a SoundCloud profile with more than 90 tracks uploaded.
