People magazine has named Noah Wyle, known for his roles in the medical dramas «ER» and «The Pitt,» its «Sexiest Man Alive» for 2026. According to People, Wyle initially thought the announcement was a prank. His wife, Sara, fully supported the choice, seeing him as a good man, a caring father and a devoted husband.

Now 55, Wyle rose to fame in the 1990s playing Dr. John Carter on «ER.» In recent years, he has returned to the spotlight with «The Pitt,» in which he stars as Dr. Michael «Robby» Robinavitch. The role earned him two Emmy Awards for outstanding lead actor in a drama series.

His popularity in medical dramas has also led to some unusual encounters with fans.

Wyle recalled that he had recently been sitting at a restaurant with his wife and another couple when an older couple approached their table. They told him they loved «The Pitt» and had not missed an episode. The woman, who had recently undergone surgery, then asked him to examine her leg and rolled up her pant leg to show him fresh stitches — something he said he had not seen in a long time.

In the interview, Wyle also opened up about his life off set. He makes breakfast for his wife and youngest daughter, exercises, walks his dogs and keeps a journal.

In the 1990s, Wyle appeared on the cover of People alongside his «ER» co-stars George Clooney, Eriq La Salle and Anthony Edwards in an issue featuring the show’s most attractive actors. Clooney would go on to be named People’s «Sexiest Man Alive» twice, while Wyle received the title for the first time in 2026.

Asked how Clooney might react to the news, Wyle said he imagined his former co-star would have a good laugh and hopefully feel like a proud father seeing that Wyle had finally gone gray.
