Dastan Satpayev, a Kazakhstani forward playing for English club Burnley, has suffered another hamstring injury. Newly appointed head coach Fabio Celestini said the 18-year-old’s return date remains uncertain.

Due to the injury, Satpayev was left out of Burnley’s squad for its Championship match against Portsmouth, which ended in a 0-0 draw. It was Celestini’s first match in charge of the English club.

«He has hamstring problems, muscular problems. We must see it together, step by step, day by day and see what happens. It’s very difficult to say [how long he will be out for]. I’ve only been here for 48 hours. I have a lot of information, but maybe I don’t have all the information,» the Burnley Express quoted Celestini as saying.

He also noted that Burnley is working with Chelsea, which holds the Kazakhstani player’s rights, on the matter.

Satpayev had only recently returned to action after suffering an earlier hamstring injury. His recovery was overseen by Chelsea, with his playing time gradually increased. In the final match under former coach Nicky Hayen, Satpayev made his first start since returning from injury and spent around an hour on the pitch.

Satpayev was also left out of Kazakhstan’s squad for the November UEFA Nations League matches.

Celestini was appointed head coach on Oct. 29, replacing Hayen, who was dismissed on Oct. 24 following a 4-1 defeat to Lincoln City. The Swiss manager previously coached CSKA Moscow, Basel, Luzern and Lausanne-Sport.

After 13 matchdays, Burnley sits 22nd in the Championship with nine points, in the relegation zone.
