Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel has died at age 30 following a serious collision during a match against Andorra in Spain’s second division, the club’s press service reported.

De Miguel was taken to hospital after colliding with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono. The incident occurred near the end of the match, with the score at 2-2. Owono came far outside his penalty area to intercept the ball and collided with de Miguel, leaving the forward unconscious. Medical staff treated him on the pitch for several minutes. The match was abandoned and was not resumed. Andorra’s goalkeeper Owono was shown a straight red card.

While being transported to the hospital, the footballer suffered cardiac arrest. Doctors managed to restore his pulse through CPR, but de Miguel remained unconscious.

Tenerife initially said that the player was in stable but critical condition. On the morning of Nov. 3, the club issued another statement saying that his neurological condition had deteriorated. His death was announced later.

«Filled with grief, with a lump in our throats and unable to believe this is true, CD Tenerife announces the tragic passing of Jesús de Miguel Alameda at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. There are no words of comfort; absolutely nothing can ease this overwhelming feeling of sadness. We stand alongside his devastated family, his loved ones and the entire Tenerife football community, which mourns this cruel outcome today,» the club said in a statement.

De Miguel joined Tenerife from Castellón in the summer of 2025.
