Kazakhstan’s flag carrier Air Astana has launched its first aircraft with satellite internet access on board. Kursiv LifeStyle looks at how passengers can use the Wi-Fi and when charges will take effect.
The Airbus A321LR, registration EI-KGB, became the first aircraft in Air Astana’s fleet equipped with high-speed internet access. Its first Wi-Fi-enabled flight took place on Oct. 29 on the Almaty-Tashkent route. The airline plans to equip its other Airbus A321LR aircraft with Wi-Fi throughout 2027.
How to get online onboard
All passengers will have free internet access until Jan. 31, 2027. Starting Feb. 1, 2027, only business class passengers and Nomad Club members with Gold or Diamond status will have free access.
Other Nomad Club members will have free access to messaging apps, while passengers without membership benefits will have to pay for internet access. The price has not yet been announced.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development previously said that the first Air Astana aircraft equipped with satellite internet could enter service in October 2026. The ministry prepared legislative amendments to enable the service’s launch, while the airline would determine pricing.
