While speaking at the 76th UN General Assembly Session, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan said that the isolation of Afghanistan isn’t an option.

«In these challenging times we can’t let Afghanistan slide down into isolation and leave it face to face with many problems,» he said.

As the president noted, his country has already opened its borders with Afghanistan and started supplies of food, oil products and energy. As Afghanistan is an integral part of Central Asia, the entire region as well as the international community are interested in stabilizing the situation there, he added.

According to Mirziyoyev, the UN has to play a more active role in finding a solution for the Afghan problem. In turn, the country sent about 1,300 tons of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan in the midst of September.
