A proper draft law was already prepared by the police

The ministry plans to make these IT technologies a part of official procedure and state control.

According to the ministry’s press service, new legislation is aimed at making control over entry and staying of migrants more effective via the status of entry purpose assigning and new migration rules.

The draft law was already passed through public discussions and sent to the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. The document is expected to be introduced to the government in December.

As the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported there are more than 700,000 migrants who have been staying in Russia illegally. This figure was announced by Deputy Minister Alexander Gorovoy at the meeting with ambassadors from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

Russia wants every migrant to get his ID with an expiration date of 10 years. Those migrants who are going to receive the document have to apply to a local department of internal affairs in person or via email.
