According to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, it is going to terminate all unused ordnance in the country.

As an interim inspection by the defense ministry has shown, the disposal of ammunition, which is set on military sheets as an unused military property, is the main point of concern for the agency.

«The authorized agency for ordnance disposal in Kazakhstan is the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development. However, its ability to complete that task is limited. Therefore, the Ministry of Defense has been forced to keep all that ordnance in its warehouses and bases as unused military property for years,» the ministry stated.

Now the government of Kazakhstan has prepared a new rule.

«Both the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development and Ministry of Defense are obliged to organize the removal of all that unused ordnance from military warehouses and destroy them at the military test sites. All these operations should be done with the help of ordnance disposal engineers,» the defense officials said.

The government’s edict just shaped the task in general and now both ministries have to negotiate all the details of that task.

On August 26 the warehouse of the military base in the Bayzak district of the Zhambyl region had been set on fire, which caused the detonation of ordnance. These munitions were brought there from Arys after a series of massive explosions on July 24, 2019.

According to military experts, the collection and disposal of all munitions in Arys, the Turkestan region will require two or even three years.
