
According to hh.kz, a popular online platform for job seekers and employers in Kazakhstan, the median salary offered by employers to candidates on the website was $690.15 at the end of Q2 2026, representing a 4.7% year-on-year increase.
The median salary represents the central value: half of the vacancies pay more than this amount, while the other half pay less. Therefore, the indicator is less sensitive to isolated offers with extremely high or low salaries.
How have salaries changed by city?
Astana and Almaty retained the highest salaries among major cities. In Astana, the median offer was $734.04, while in Almaty it was $733.65. However, both cities also reported a decrease of 0.8% and 1.2%, respectively.
In all other major cities, employers’ offers increased over the year. The most significant increase of 8.5% to $589.55 was reported in Aktobe.
In Kostanay, the median salary increased by 5.6% to $622.83. In Shymkent, the figure increased by 4% to $645.13, and in Taraz by 3.8% to $556.61.
In Pavlodar, employers offered an average salary of $602.82, up 2.9% from last year. In Karaganda, the median increased by 2.5% to $630.39, in Ust-Kamenogorsk by 1.4% to $600.67, and in Semey by 1% to $560.86.
Which industries offer the highest salaries?
The highest salary offers were for senior and middle management – $1,169.04. However, over the year, the median salary in this category decreased by 8.6%.
In the automotive industry, job seekers were offered $928.23; in strategy, investment and consulting – $916.20; and in marketing, advertising and PR – $859.19. Salaries in all three fields decreased – by 4.3%, 5% and 2.1%, respectively.
In sports clubs, fitness centers and beauty shops, the median offer reached $857.48, an increase of 4.4%. Lawyers were offered $804.94, raw materials specialists $795.67, and those in agriculture $774.61.
In construction and real estate, the median salary was $770.74; in IT $756.16; in sales and customer service $744.70; and in finance and accounting $741.61.
The most significant salary growth by professional field was reported in insurance, up 10.4% to $640.81. Offers in education increased by 9% to $589.48, and salaries for lawyers rose by 7.2%.
Employers reported the lowest median salaries in retail – $562.17 – and in security – $435.60.
